REPRESENTATIVE PROGRAM
Hello SECA clubs & families,
Welcome to those invited for SECA Representative program & trials.
The objective of our Representative program is to afford ‘emerging talent’ the opportunity to play at a higher level against other cricket associations via the VMCU carnival.
⦿ More specialized coaching/ advice/ skill development
⦿ Playing in a side with more focused roles and responsibilities
⦿ Helping develop cricketers for higher honours/ future pathways
All underpinned by creating new friendships and having some ‘cricketing’ fun!
SECA will field 5 x Boys Representative teams across junior age groups U12x2 / U13x1 / U14x1 / U17x1 at the annual VMCU Carnival.
For specific teams info, please click on the relevant age tab in juniors menu above.
SECA enters various age teams in the annual VMCU Competition in early-mid January each year. Details for the 2026 carnival are:
Carnival Dates: January 5 - 18 in 2026
Teams entered:
U12 x 2 (Mitchell Shield & Josh Browne Plate)
U13 x 1 (Des Nolan Cup)
U14 x 1 (Russell Allen Shield)
U17 x 1 (Merger of U16 Jim Beitzel Shield & Phil Arnold Shield)
For players to be selected in any SECA team, they must be nominated by their clubs.
Nominations will be called for (from clubs) in September/ October each year & trials will commence from October.
There is NO OTHER way for players to attend trials or be selected in SECA Rep teams.

VMCU Carnival 2026
Thats a wrap on another successful VMCU Carnival for SECA !
With the completion of the annual VMCU carnival for 2026 we would like to thank all players/ families, coaches and SECUA (umpires) for their efforts, to ensure a smooth carnival.
ALL 5 SECA teams made the Semi-Finals stage in a strong competition, which is a great reflection of the efforts of all involved.
3 teams progressed to grand finals, but just missed out on claiming the premiership after some hard fought matches.
During the carnival there were some great performances across the various age groups, which are reflected in players awards listed below.

SECA REP TIMELINE & INFORMATION
Clubs provide names of players to SECA Juniors > by end of August
*Note: ONLY players nominated by their club, will be accepted for trials
⦿ ALL Players MUST be registered to a SECA Junior Club by 20/09/2025 to be accepted into Representative trials
⦿ Trials commence (& continue) - Sundays in October & November for U12, U13 & U14
⦿ U17 Nominations in October (from clubs), trials start in November
⦿ NO SECA trails will be held on Melbourne Cup weekend
⦿ Squads finalised by end of November
⦿ Practice match (U12 & U14 only) Sunday in December TBC
⦿ Carnival begins, Monday January 5th, 2026
