SECA REPRESENTATIVE PROGRAMS
The objective of our Representative program is to afford ‘emerging talent’ the opportunity to play at a higher level against other cricket associations via the VMCU carnival.
⦿ More specialized coaching/ advice/ skill development
⦿ Playing in a side with more focused roles and responsibilities
⦿ Helping develop cricketers for higher honours/ future pathways
All underpinned by creating new friendships and having some ‘cricketing’ fun!
VMCU Representative Carnival 2027
SECA will field 7 x Boys Representative teams across junior age groups U12x3 / U13x2 / U14x1 / U17x1 at the annual VMCU Carnival.
Carnival Dates: January 4th -17th 2027
Representative Teams entered in 2027:
U12 x 3 (Mitchell Shield, Arnold Shield, Josh Browne Plate)
U13 x 2 (Des Nolan Cup , +1 TBC)
U14 x 1 (Russell Allen Shield)
U17 x 1 (Jim Beitzel Shield)
Representative Trials & Information:

For players to be selected in any SECA (VMCU Carnival) team, they must be selected by SECA or nominated by their clubs.

Trial squads will be originally selected by SECA (Based on prior season/s) and sent to clubs in August, clubs will then have the chance to add players (not originally selected) for SECA consideration, trials will commence / continue as per below.

U12 / U13/ U14 From September 13 & 20, then continue 11, 18 & 25 October *Teams finalised by 31/10/2026.

U17: selection and trials From 12/10/2026 *Information email to clubs in early October

Players MUST be available for the majority of trials and ALL scheduled dates during the carnival

To be considered for SECA Trails ALL players MUST be registered (with a SECA club) by August 31st 2026
*An email has been sent (August 17th) to all SECA affiliate clubs with updates and information for trials and selection.
November/ December: training sessions and practice matches, full calendar with dates sent to families once teams are finalised.
*NO trials will be held on Cup Weekend
There is NO OTHER WAY for players to attend trials or be selected in SECA Rep teams.

VMCU Carnival 2026
Thats a wrap on another successful VMCU Carnival for SECA !
With the completion of the annual VMCU carnival for 2026 we would like to thank all players/ families, coaches and SECUA (umpires) for their efforts, to ensure a smooth carnival.
ALL 5 SECA teams made the Semi-Finals stage in a strong competition, which is a great reflection of the efforts of all involved.
3 teams progressed to grand finals, but just missed out on claiming the premiership after some hard fought matches.
During the carnival there were some great performances across the various age groups, which are reflected in players awards listed below:
