JUNIOR CRICKET
A Complete Pathway for Young Cricketers Across Melbourne’s South‑East
The South East Cricket Association (SECA) delivers one of Victoria’s largest and most established junior cricket programs, providing children aged 7–17 with a safe, inclusive and development‑focused pathway. With more than 4,000 participants across 40+ community clubs, SECA offers structured competitions that support every stage of a young player’s cricket journey — from introductory formats to the transition into senior cricket.
SECA’s junior competitions are aligned with Cricket Australia’s national junior framework and delivered in accordance with SECA By‑Laws, the Spirit of Cricket, and Child Safety Standards.
Our Junior Cricket Philosophy
SECA’s junior program is built on four core principles:
1. Developmentally Appropriate Cricket
Each age group is designed to match the physical, technical and cognitive stage of young players, ensuring they learn the game progressively and confidently.
2. Fair Play & Inclusion
Equal participation, respect for umpires, and positive behaviour are central to all SECA competitions. Every child should feel welcome, safe and supported.
3. Community Connection
SECA works closely with clubs, volunteers, coaches and families to create a strong, community‑driven cricket environment.
4. A Pathway for Every Player
Whether a child is new to cricket or preparing for senior competition, SECA provides a clear, enjoyable and sustainable pathway.
